How To - Create a personal Microsoft account
A Microsoft account is a free account you use to access many Microsoft devices and services, such as the web-based email service Outlook.com (also known as hotmail.com, msn.com, live.com), Office Online apps, Skype, OneDrive, Xbox Live, Bing, Windows, or the Microsoft Store. If you already use any of these services chances are you already have a Microsoft account. Microsoft account used to be called "Windows Live ID". When you create a Microsoft account, you can use any email address as the user name, including addresses from Outlook.com, Yahoo! or Gmail. If you already use an email address and password to sign in to Microsoft devices and services like the ones mentioned above, then you already have a Microsoft account. One of the benefits of having a Microsoft account is having a single password to sign into all your Microsoft services. A Microsoft account gives you access to Microsoft products and services* with just one login. Here's how to set one up: Go to account.microsoft.com, select Sign in, and then choose Create one! A Google Account gives you access to many Google products. With a Google Account, you can do things like: Send and receive email using Gmail Find your new favorite video on YouTube Download apps from Google Play Step 1: Choose a Google Account type Create account When you create a Google Account, you will be asked for some personal info. By providing accurate info, you can help keep your account secure and make our services more useful. Tip: You don't need a Gmail account to create a Google Account. You can use your non-Gmail email address to create one instead. Go to the Google Account sign in page. Click Create account. Enter your name In the "Username" field, enter a username. Enter and confirm a password. Click Next. Optional: Add and verify a phone number for your account. Click Next. Use an existing email address Go to the Google Account Sign In page. Click Create account. Enter your name. Click Use my current email address instead. Enter your current email address. Click Next. Verify your email address with the code sent to your existing email. Click Verify. Step 2: Protect your account with recovery info If you forget your password or someone is using your account without your permission, updated recovery info makes it much more likely you’ll get your account back.
